Non-potable water is not suitable for human consumption. Our municipal non-potable customers purchase water from us, then perform their own treatment processes prior to residential delivery. This solution offers options to municipalities that choose to own and operate their treatment facilities but struggle to maintain a sustainable water source.
In the past year SaskWater delivered approximately 38.4 billion litres of non-potable water.
SaskWater owns and operates non-potable water systems in the areas surrounding Saskatoon, Buffalo Pound Lake, and along the Saskatoon Southeast Water Supply System, which runs from Lake Diefenbaker, north to Blackstrap Lake and east to Lanigan. These systems serve our municipal customers as well as our industrial and rural customers through a series of canal systems and transmission pipelines.
