Apply for Donations
SaskWater donates to Saskatchewan communities by contributing cash in support of events, activities or programs which are important to Saskatchewan communities. Cash donations are considered to be purely philanthropic, where SaskWater expects no significant benefit or recognition in return.
Recipient organizations include, but are not limited to, non-profit organizations registered with Saskatchewan Justice Corporations Branch Corporate Registry or registered charitable organizations which are listed with the Canada Revenue Agency.
Requests for cash donations must be received at least two months prior to the event. SaskWater will respond to eligible applicants within a reasonable time period and let the applicant know if the request has been declined, approved or if further information is required. SaskWater will not respond to ineligible or late applicants.
Eligibility

Cash donations must directly benefit a Saskatchewan community.

Support will be given to an organization once per calendar year and for one version of an event, activity or program. (example: where a main event is held in one community with similar versions held in other communities, only the main event will be supported).

Priority will be given to activities and events which have a province-wide impact, rather than being specific to one location.

SaskWater may provide support to conferences provided that:

The purpose falls within SaskWater's priority categories for funding: and

The selection criteria are met.

SaskWater will not provide support to, nor respond to, ineligible applications which describe the following events, activities or programs:

For-profit organizations

Political organizations or lobby groups
-
Organizations that discriminate on the basis of race, gender, religion, or lifestyle

Religious organizations or events designed to promote religious beliefs or provide funding for religious causes

Events which are designed to create employment for an event organizer, or which have an event organizer as a significant budget item
-
Individuals seeking self-gain or employment through fund raising
-
Individuals seeking to raise funds for a cause or event
-
Third parties (for profit) raising funds for a charity or event (call centres, professional fund raisers)

Charities whose head offices are outside Saskatchewan, and where funds provided would go to that head office rather than to the Saskatchewan branch of the charity or organization

Events held outside Saskatchewan

Annual General Meetings

Multiple versions of an event held in different communities

Travel, accommodation or other expenses for trips or tours for individuals, groups or teams

Advertising in program brochures

Publications or video productions
-
Research, capital or operating expenses

Fee rebates or discounts

Graduations
-
Sports teams, music groups, service clubs
Before applying, organizations are to consider the eligibility criteria and evaluate their eligibility. In your proposal please include the following information:

The name, address, and phone number of the organization, plus a contact name and phone number/e-mail address

Information about the organization including:
-
the official name of the organization
-
the Charitable Registration Number and/or Society Registration Number or Non-profit registration number, if applicable
-
the organization's mission / purpose statement
-
a brief summary of the programs and services the organization provides
-
a list of the current board of directors
-
A detailed description of the event or activity for which funds are requested, including the number of people who will assist in organizing it, and the expected number of people who will attend or benefit from it, including:

an outline of the activity for which the organization is seeking funding support and an explanation of how the activity directly benefits a Saskatchewan community, including how the activity will be evaluated

the start and completion dates
-
brief budget overview which itemizes the estimated costs of the event or activity, including other sources of funding such as government grants received, and which clearly states how excess funds (after event costs are paid) will be used

the cash donation amount sought as well as other cash donation amount options available to SaskWater
