Corporate Profile
Re-mandated in 2002, SaskWater is the province's Crown water utility service provider, delivering potable and non-potable water supply, wastewater treatment and management and certified operations and maintenance services to Saskatchewan municipalities, industry and rural water user groups.
Headquartered in Moose Jaw, SaskWater employs approximately 100 people (permanent full-time, part-time and temporary) in 12 operating locations. As of December 2006, SaskWater currently serves 55 municipal customers, 39 industrial customers and 48 public water boards, user groups, co-operatives and pipeline associations.
Quality drinking water is the foundation for a vibrant community and assures residents' health and well-being. Communities contracting their water supply services from SaskWater can be assured that their drinking water is safe and healthy for personal use, is reliable in quality and quantity and will meet the community's needs now and into the future.
New Mandate (2002)
The new SaskWater was established October 1, 2002 with the proclamation of The Saskatchewan Water Corporation Act (2002). Through this Act, SaskWater became a self-supporting, commercial Crown corporation providing water, wastewater and related services to municipalities, industry and rural water associations in the province.
The new SaskWater is no longer responsible for watershed management, well testing or source water protection. For information about these services, please visit the Saskatchewan Watershed Authority website at www.swa.ca.
