Water Advisory (SPWS-E)

April 27, 2012

Attention: Saskatoon East Potable Water Supply (SPWS-E) Customers:

Due to increased demand on its SPWS-E system, upgrades to the infrastructure are being performed to increase system capacity. A recent series of pump tests performed on the SPWS-E system has resulted in higher than anticipated levels of turbidity in the treated water. This increase in turbidity has resulted in varying degrees of cloudiness in the water along the pipeline sections extending from Saskatoon to Elstow and from Highway 16 to the Patience Lake area.

At this time, SaskWater is recommending that if possible, SPWS-E customers limit the water drawn into their systems over the next 48 hours to allow the suspended sediment sufficient time to settle out and/or be flushed.

The turbidity levels are being monitored and additional sampling is being performed to ensure that it does not pose any health risks to our customers.
The Ministry of Environment has been advised of the current situation and should subsequent water sample test results indicate that the water may pose a health risk, a Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory (PDWA) will be issued at that time. Should a PDWA subsequently be issued, SaskWater will notify its affected customers at that time.

SaskWater apologizes for any inconvenience that may be caused as a result of these required upgrades. Any questions regarding this work should be directed to SaskWater Customer Services at 1-888-230-1111 during regular business hours. (M-F 8:00 am to 5:00 pm)
